Am back in Cheltenham after a crazy, exciting week in the world of fashion.
It was an amazing experience, I got to know so many new interesting people and came home with a hard drive full of new photographs.

I know I haven't written any updates in quite some time but uni and life in general have kept me busy.

At the moment I'm feeling absolutely shite - I'm having a bowl of nasty cold with chopped depressive moments and sprinkles of homesickness on top.

oh, and a shedload of coursework. funtimes. *dead*

i don't really have the energy to write that much so, here are some shots I've taken of a local band i keep hanging out with...

Uni life has officially begun.

After packing the last couple shirts and the odd sock into my suitcase, zipping up my backpack and double checking if I hadn’t forgotten my Nikon D700, I finally got my overly excited bum to bed.
Couldn’t sleep at first, found out the reason – forgot to pack my passport. very unfortunate.
got up. stuck passport into my bag. got back under the covers. finally fell asleep.
too bad that about 2 and a half hours later my alarm woke me like a gentle punch in the face.
got all my 352 bits and bobs into my parent’s car and we’ve left the house at exactly 4:02am.
drove about 10 metres. stopped. turned around because mum had forgotten something.
drove off again, this time for real.
the trip from Schaffhausen to Calais (France) was all smooth sailing. We did about 2 or 3 pit stops and my parents basically lived off sandwiches and coffee, while I prefered music and delirious naps.
Arrived at the northern coast of France at about 12ish, which had been too early to get on the ferry, so we drove around town for a bit, hoping to find a restaurant from which we’d see the car – so we could watch and look helpless in case someone would steal it.
Calais is a pretty dingy bland place by the way – just in case you were planning on visiting.
At around 12:30ish we got in line for the ferry. excitement.
Got on. sailed off at around 13:10. bought some new Skullcandy earphones and a family package of Jelly Babies. made myself a sort of bed out of chairs. dad followed my masterplan. felt sick. discovered Tetris on my mobile.got excited about that. ate a muffin.

arrived in Dover at 2. (mind the time zones)

continued the journey and got to Cheltenham at about 5:30 pm.

I was feeling pretty awful – headache and all that.

after a short nap I felt a little better, not much though.
collected my parents at the door where they forced me to walk around town feeling like a fat bum and looking miserable. (get the cynism)
after wandering about for a while we decided to go for a chinese all-you-can-eat buffet at “the brewery” – a place where there are loads of restaurants chain things.
once I got back to the hotel I desperately tried to find a beauty place that was open on Sundays – bad luck all the way.
got an appointment for Tuesday though. happy times.

Aaaaanyhow. Sunday = moving into uni halls day

after a late breakkie on Sunday, my parents and I got most of my luggage into the car and drove off to my new home.
Once on campus I had to sign up for a GP and get my camera equipment and other electro junk insured.
I then received the key to my floor and room, which of course didn’t work properly.
went back to the reception to be handed one of the teacher’s master keys (oh, the powers I could have had and abused. harharharrr) to get on with my moving-in process.
At around 5ish I had a late lunch with mum and dad at Bella Italia – food was alright, service was bloody awful. Oh, and word of advice – there’s no need for a blasting cold aircondition when it’s 16 degrees outside!

Parents dropped me off at uni where I had to call security to get into my hall (due to lack of working key).
Had a quick chat with my floor mates and then decided to go down to the students union to get meself some tickets for the freshers ball and other freshers events.
Unfortunately I had left my mobile phone (with the door code to the my halls) in my room, so I was locked out!
I asked a couple students passing by if they were in the same halls as me – they weren’t.
got invited over for some sambucca and a chat though, so that came in as a pleasant surprise.
after a bit more socialising I finally caught a security guard who had let me back into my home.

Monday at 10 I finally met my future coursemates and my teachers. The teachers seem pretty cool and so does my class.
We had a paired introduction thingie, where we had to find out 3 interesting facts about the other person. ‘twas quite tricky actually and a bit forced upon =oP
but I think we did okay.

Anyhow, I’m not gonna go into too much detail, because this is becoming an amaaaazingly long and quite boring post now.

We already got our first group assignment on Monday – First Impressions of Cheltenham – due on Thursday night. Diving right into it, eh?

Monday night I didn’t do much socialising because my parents were still in town and I wanted to spend time with them.
I hit the sack early because I was feeling quite beat from the long trip and all the anxiety.

Tuesday wasn’t very exciting, but after another briefing, I met up with my project group and we got started on our mission.
The theme of our project was finding photographs which show the contrast between the poor and the posh end of Cheltenham.
I was in the posh end gang, and these are my results:

Tuesday night I had a fare well dinner with my parents at a quiet little Italian restaurant.
I was so glad they came to Cheltenham with me and were there to support me during the first couple days.
They were incredible, rushing around sorting out all the things I needed for my new life, going to IKEA, driving me from one place to the other, helping me with moving in, hugging and calming me down when I was getting freaked out about all that’s ahead. etc etc.

Wednesday our group met up to have a look at our photographs and we got our blog set up.

I didn’t have anything going on in the afternoon so I went grocery shopping with some mates. It was quite exhausting, especially since we’d gotten on the wrong bus and ended up on the other side of town X_X joy.

At night I went to O’Neills with one of my flatmates to watch one of my course mates play an acoustic guitar set. He was brilliant.
will add photographs later on.

Once the pub closed we went on to his flat where we had some red wine which led to quite random talks about sexy cartoon characters, child abuse, star signs and what not.

Today I went to fresher’s fayre and signed up for yoga classes.

That’s all folks. for now, at least.

okay, right.

i haven't posted anything in ages but since i am going to start my new life in a new school and a new country soon, i decided to reactivate my blog for those who are interested in keeping up with my life =)

mid-September my mum, dad and I will pack all my bags in our car and begin our journey to the UK - where I'll be living and studying photojournalism for the coming 3 years.

am dead excited about it, but also a bit sad to leave my friends and family behind...

well yeah, so watch this spot for uni-life news ;)

(those of you who follow me on LJ, nevermind - this blog will have the same content minus the saucy stories and fangirl ramblings ;)
